SAFE ONLINE shopping for hair

Discussed here are important points about secure shopping online whether being for hair or for other products online.

SECURE INTERNET TRANSACTION

How do you tell if the Internet connections are secure?

· Look for the picture of the unbroken key or closed lock in your browser window. Either one indicates that the security is operative. A broken key or any open lock indicates it is not.

· Look to see if the web address on the page that asks for your credit card information begins with "https:" instead of "http."

· Some web sites use the words "Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)" or a pop up box that says you are entering a secure area.

Never give your credit card information in e-mail.

A legitimate business will never ask you to provide your credit card information in e-mail message. If you receive such e-mail, do not respond, but report the problem immediately.

SAFE PAYMENT METHODS

Why is paying by credit card safer than paying by check, cash, debit card, money order, cashier's check, certified check, teller's check, or cash on delivery (C.O.D.).?

If you have an unauthorized charge on your credit card, under federal law your liability is limited to $50. Moreover, some web site operators and credit card issuers (including all VISA and MasterCard issuers) promise that under certain circumstances they will even pay this amount for you.

Can paying by credit card help in a dispute?

Federal law provides several rights for consumers who dispute charges for goods or services under two rules. For more information visit: http://safeshopping.org/payment.shtml

Is PayPal a safe payment method?

PayPal is one of the safest methods to send or receive money online. PayPal offers extensive fraud protection, as well as protection against merchandise not received, defective merchandise, etc. PayPal is the most preferred payment method by many online retailers like E-bay, Amazon, etc. PayPal allows customers to provide different and shipping address under the same account. If I pay by MONEY ORDER, what should I do?

When you decide to pay with money order for your purchase, we recommend that you purchase it from a well-established and authorized institution, like the United States Postal Office, Western Union or Money Gram. Always keep your receipt and mail the money order with certified mail, or ask for delivery confirmation, so you can track the letter. In case your mail gets lost or misplaced, you should go back to the institution where the money order was purchased from, provide them with your receipt and ask for reimbursement.

CREDIT CARD ACCOUNT PROTECTION

How can you protect against unauthorized use of your credit card account number?

Carefully and promptly check your credit card statements when they arrive. If you identify any irregularities, you should immediately bring these to the attention of the issuer of the credit card by telephone and in writing.

Paying by credit card?

Hair Stop and Shop does not keep customer’s credit card number on file. Customer will have to provide credit card information every time they place a new order. This way if your customer account is compromised, no one has access to the credit card numbers a customer has used.

Do you need a separate credit card?

Consider getting a credit card to use just for online purchases. It will be easier for you to review your records. Also, you'll still be able to use your other credit cards if the security of your online card is in doubt.

Some credit card issuers offer "virtual" credit cards for online transactions. You go to the issuer's website and follow the instructions for obtaining the number you may use in your next transaction. Even though the virtual number you give to the merchant is not the same as the one on your credit card, the charge will be authorized, and it will appear on your regular credit card bill. So, if there is a breach of security by one merchant, the person who obtains the number will not be able to use it to charge things to your account.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Inspect your purchase. Look at your purchase carefully as soon as you receive it. Contact the seller as soon as possible if you discover a problem with it. Tell the seller in writing about any problems you have, ask for a repair or refund, and keep a copy of your correspondence.

What happens if your purchase is damaged or missing a piece?

To preserve your legal rights, inspect your purchase carefully as soon as you receive it. Contact the seller as soon as possible if you discover a problem with it. Tell the seller in writing about any problem that you are concerned with, ask for a repair or refund and keep a copy of your correspondence.

Review the return, refund, and shipping and handling policies as well as the other legal terms before placing your order.

Become familiarized with the return, payment and shipping policies of the merchant. Know what to expect.

Ensure the safe delivery of your item.

If you are concerned that you will not be able to be home when your delivery is made and the item may not be safe left at your doorsteps, you may contact the merchant to request a signature confirmation or have the package shipped at your place of work.

What is the Cold Fusion Extensions Method?

We've heard about the Hot Fusion method numerous times but we rarely hear COLD FUSION and even less rarely see it offered in hair salons.

Different stylists may have different perceptions of cold fusion extensions method but for the most part COLD FUSION means extensions applied without heat or glue.

Some of you reading this will ask how is that possible? And no this is not the weaving, sawing or braiding method.

I will describe below the several known Cold Fusion methods:

Single strand extensions with a ring

Every strand is attached to a little ring that can be easily closed or reopened with special pliers. Rinex extensions are an example of this method. The ring and loop that come with the extensions allow you to slide your own hair into the ring, close the ring with pliers and not use heat or glue. As the matter of fact, Rinex extensions are reusable, do not harm your own hair and are not messy.

ULTRASONIC 5000

This system is used by Great lengths hair experts. It bonds each extension with a revolutionary “cold fusion” process that does not use any heat but a specialized patented “ultrasonic wave” tong. This patented system allows for the absolute finest hair extensions possible even on extremely fine and thinning hair. With its state of the art ultra sonic wave technology and all natural protein called Keratin, Cold Fusion uses no heat and has a seemless point of attachment. It is hard to come by a salon that offers this method but here is one.

Short and Sassy Hair for the summer

What inspired me to post this article is the extreme heat outside today.

What is an appropriate hair style for high temperatures with high humidity?

And the answer in this case is SHORT and SASSY hair. Many people transition to hair extensions in the summer, as they are more appropriate for activities such as: swimming, outdoor activities and etc. It is not that wigs like the lace fronts would not give you the same flexibility, but hair extensions may
be less expensive than a lace unit and and maybe easier on your own hair.

The Short and Sassy series that I have in mind include 4 piece extensions and 6 piece extensions. One pack of that hair should be enough for a full head. The styles as you will see from the pictures are short, sassy and cute.

Tips when buying a hair weave

What do you have to know and consider when buying hair weave or extensions:
  • Usually 2 packs are required to do a full head (that is the standard for most manufacturers of hair extensions)
  • When purchasing curly hair weave be aware of the fact that even though you may be purchasing 18" the hair will appear 16". The length on the package will indicate the length of the curly hair when stretched/straightened not when in curly state.
  • Consider buying texture and color that suits your natural hair texture and complements your skin tone.
  • Most beauty supply stores or online stores will not accept requests for refund on stylist fee that a customer has paid and is dissatisfied with the product. Make sure to inspect the style and quality of the hair you purchase before you weave it onto your head. It is highly recommended that you wash the purchased hair before application to ensure top satisfaction with the quality and product.
  • Human hair will be more expensive but will also last you longer
  • The quality of hair goes from superior to inferior in this order:
    1. Virgin Remy (hair collected from 1 donor, not chemically treated),
    2. Indian/Asian/European Remy (hair with uniform cuticle patterns, not chemically treated),
    3. 100% Human Hair (pure human hair, no blends),
    4. Human Hair Quality (blend of human hair with heat resistant fibers),
    5. Futura Synthetic hair (heat resistant synthetic hair)
    6. Kanekalon (synthetic hair, most commonly used, non-flammable)
    7. Toyokalon (synthetic hair)

Super French (wet & wavy) Weaving

When we are talking about wet and wavy hair we refer to hair texture that looks different when wet and when dry.
The picture to the side illustrates the style when it is not wet. (It appears bushy and kinky).
When moistened this hair becomes more curly/wavy. You can use simply water or special wet and wavy sprays to get a more defined curl pattern.

Usually wet and wavy hair is made of Human Hair.
Examples is the Legacy Super French Weaving which is 100% remy hair.
Sometimes though this style can be made of synthetic hair.
An example is Futura Super French Weaving which is made of Futura heat resistant fiber. Futura hair can be curled or straightened, it can sustain up to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.

The advantages of this hair style are numerous. Click here to see a video of this gorgeous hair.

Hair quality: Remi, human hair, synthetic hair

When choosing a hair wig or weave it is important to consider the quality and origin of the hair. According to your price range or quality preference you can choose between 2 main categories: human hair and synthetic hair. Below are explained the different qualities of hair.
Remy/Remi hair:
is 100% human hair. Remy Hair can be categorized in the ‘premium’ segment, as far as hair quality is concerned. Remy Hair is bundled in such a manner that the roots of the hair are on one side and the tip of the hair on the opposite side. Since all the hairs are placed in the same direction, the hairs remain undisturbed , making them more durable and long lasting. Some Remy hair is also referred to as "virgin" because of the lack of chemical processing to the hair. It means that the hair is pure and has not been dyed, or chemically treated. Remy hair can have different origin: European Remy, Indian Remy, Asian Remy, Brasilian Remy.
100% Human Hair: is 100% human hair not mixed with synthetic fibers. This grade of hair is also excellent and can be long lasting but may have been chemically treated or colored.
Human Hair quality: is human hair often mixed with premium quality heat resistant fiber. Recently some manufacturers have resorted to mixing human hair with heat resistant hair, because the features of the hair do not change significantly and makes the product more affordable to customers. This has been also a result of the price of raw human hair rising up for the last 2 years. Customers should beware when purchasing this human hair quality product because even though it can be curled and straightened, it cannot be died/colored. Also be cautious of not overpaying for human hair quality products as they should be comparatively cheaper than 100% human hair products.
Heat Resistant hair: is made from high quality synthetic fiber, called Futura. This heat resistant fiber usually can sustain up to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, is easy to curl or straighten and is relatively inexpensive.
Kanekalon hair: is 100% synthetic fiber called Kanekalon. This is one of the most revered synthetic hair for braiding and the making of wigs. Its is flame-retardant/ non-flammable and quite affordable.
Toyokalon hair: is 100% synthetic fiber named Toyokalon. This is the lowest and cheapest grade of synthetic fiber that is often used for the making of braids and fake/costume wigs.
